Tokyo: an enticing city of the land of the rising Sun


Tokyo, the capital city of the Land of the Rising Sun, is a major tourist attraction of Japan. The city is at its best during spring which is the time for different flowers to bloom. This city is a perfect example of a unique amalgamation of western and eastern cultures. In fact, one would love to notice the various contrasting opposite features of this prosperous city.



There is a wide spectrum of places to visit in Tokyo. These interesting places range from the Imperial Palace, which is the home of the Emperor and past shogunates, to the legendary Tokyo Tower. Furthermore, Ginza is a large shopping district located 15 minutes walk away from the Imperial Palace. Some of the other attractions can be named as Meiji-Jingu Shrine, Senso-ji, Tsukiji Fish Market, and Tokyo National Museum and so on. There are four national parks that lie within Tokyo namely, Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, Meiji No Mori Takao Quasi-National Park, Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and Ogasawara National Park.
The architecture in Tokyo is influenced by modern, contemporary landscapes as the city has been left in ruins twice. The first attack was of the 1923 great Kanto earthquake and later the extensive bombing during WWII destroyed most of the old buildings and monuments here.
Access to Tokyo is possible by all the means of transportation including airways, road transport and waterways. Narita International Airport, Tokyo and Haneda for primarily domestic service are the two large airports in Tokyo.
Tokyo is a great place for shopping. You can buy anything and everything from the markets here. Items to look for include electronic goods, antique furniture, kimono, fashionable cloths and accessories and so on. Akihabara is the electronic town of the city, Shinjuku offers ample camera stores, and Shibuya and Harajuku are renowned for funky items. Besides, there are a few street markets where you can surf for some interesting stuffs.


The major hotel districts in the city are Shinjuku and Tokyo Bay. Though, there are hotels in many other districts of the city as well. Shinjuku is the new business, shopping and entertainment center of Tokyo offering some great accommodation options. Other areas in this city where you can find good accommodation options include Akasaka, Asakusa, Chuo-Ku, Disneyland-Tokyo, Ginza, Narita, Haneda, and Marunouchi and so on. The Ritz Carton, Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt, Four Seasons Hotel, Grand Hyatt etc, are some of the best hotels in Tokyo. Most of the international chains of hotels are well represented in this city. These luxury hotels are particularly spread in western Shinjuku, around Tokyo station and in Akasaka region. Some of the landmark luxury hotels in Tokyo can be regarded as oasis of hospitality. There are also a wide range of mid-range hotels in this city. The budget accommodations in Tokyo are mostly found in the Taito area, especially in Asakusa and Ueno. Youth hostels are one of the cheapest accommodation options of staying in Tokyo.
